About Lisa Hunt
I have worked across pastoral and community settings, art therapy environments, education and the creative arts, including as a teacher, producer and director. My work as a pastor, researcher and survivor advocate has also brought me alongside people navigating grief, change, identity, faith, coercive control and other complex life experiences.
I continue to undertake professional development in areas including coercive control, high-control environments, trauma-informed practice and human behaviour.
The Old Bank House Conversations grew from all of these strands.
They are not counselling or therapy, and I do not diagnose or provide clinical treatment. Instead, I offer something deliberately different: a thoughtful, confidential space where you can tell your story, think aloud, ask difficult questions and explore what might come next.
Sometimes what we need most is not another person telling us what to do.
We need somewhere safe enough to hear ourselves think.
Some stories are lived. Some are inherited. Some are still unfolding.
My professional life has been spent accompanying people through some of life's most significant transitions.
I am a Commonwealth-registered marriage and funeral celebrant, pastor, writer, researcher, survivor advocate and trained professional supervisor, with a Bachelor of Theology and postgraduate qualifications in Professional Supervision.
I am also a co-founder and survivor advocate with Samson Rising, where my work includes research, advocacy and engagement around coercive control, high-control groups, institutional harm and survivor experience.
My work has taken me into spaces of grief and loss, relationships and family, faith and identity, major life transitions, and the complicated process of making meaning when life changes unexpectedly.
