Or simply waking one day with the quiet sense that life is asking something new of us.

I’m Lisa Hunt, writer, celebrant, storyteller and custodian of The Old Bank House in Avenel.

My work has always centred around people and their stories: the moments that shape us, the histories we carry, and the conversations that help us make meaning of our lives.

In 2026, my husband Philip and I became the latest custodians of The Old Bank House, a former Bank of Victoria residence built in 1873. What began as a fascination with an old house quickly became something much larger: uncovering its history, caring for its surviving fabric and imagining how it might once again become a place that welcomes people.

Today, The Old Bank House brings together three things I love: history, conversations and hospitality.
